2020 marked the 400th Anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower to America. Dartmouth is one of the towns involved in this story, as the Mayflower and the Speedwell called into the harbour for repairs in 1620, before resuming their journey. Dartmouth is a founding partner of Mayflower 400, a national and international organisation that was set up to commemorate this historic date.
Dartmouth Mayflower 400 has completed a number of legacy projects in the town, but had also planned a range of events last year. Sadly, due to the pandemic, they were either cancelled or postponed, and we have used some of our funds to support local charities and causes instead. This year, we have put together a varied programme of events at the Flavel, which will link with our Mayflower Parade of Sail in the river on Saturday 28th August. We hope that you enjoy it.
