A slick, funny, and unnervingly accurate evening of psychological illusion
International mind reader and showman Alex McAleer brings his unique brand of mind reading,
wit, and charisma to the stage in a fast-paced and interactive show that will leave audiences
questioning what’s possible. Blending contemporary mentalism with sharp storytelling, McAleer reads minds, predicts choices, and reveals impossible truths - all while maintaining a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous sense of humour. From revealing the name of a stranger’s childhood pet to guiding an audience through a shared psychological experience, no two shows are the same. McAleer has amazed audiences around the world—from London’s West End to North America and Australia - and spent ten years touring internationally with the hit ensemble show Champions of Magic. His solo show is a theatrical evening of ‘psychological mind reading’ – interactive, engaging, and laugh out loud funny.
Praise for Alex McAleer:
“Mind-blowing”- Broadway World
“McAleer has made a career of those you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-me moments” - Boston Globe
“A master of the mind... cheeky and witty, working the crowd like a conductor”
★★★★ - The West Australian
“Stunningly performed... a mentalist whose performance is immeasurably enhanced by his very dry wit.”
★★★★ Stage-Door.com
“Best of all, McAleer is wonderfully warm, his act presented to entertain friends rather than chill as so many mentalists are prone to do.” ★★★★★

This November Dart Gallery are helping The Flavel to raise money with their hugely popular postcard auction.
In 2020, their last postcard auction raised almost £8000 to help us survive the covid lockdowns.
Many of the gallery artists and other talented (and famous!) local artists have kindly agreed to donate postcard-sized original artworks which you will be able to bid for.
All proceeds will go to support the Flavel. Pictures of the postcards will be shown on their website.
The reserve bid for each painting will be £50 so you could well bag a bargain!
Bidding will remain open throughout November. Once you’ve bid, keep checking to make sure you’re still ahead. The winning bids will be confirmed at the end of the month. It’s a great opportunity to acquire an artwork for yourself or as a present (remember, Christmas will be approaching!). There will be over 70 wonderful pieces to choose from.
The choir will perform a range of seasonal music covering a wide variety of styles including pop Christmas classics from Chris de Burgh to Sia, some contemporary arrangements of traditional favourites by artists such as the Pentatonix as well as the opportunity for some audience participation in joining in well-known Christmas carols.

Presented by Adrian Deeny
Using the myth of the greatest hero of them all – Heracles - this talk explores the origin of myths and how they adapt to reflect the customs and social mores of the day. I will discuss the reshaping of the Heracles myth from earliest times, through the great classical poets Hesiodic and Homeric, up to Classical Athens when tragic poets remodelled myth in drama.
To understand myth is a way of better understanding ourselves.

And now whatever way our stories end, I know you have rewritten mine by being my friend …
Last year’s global cinematic cultural sensation, which became the most successful Broadway film adaptation of all time, now reaches its epic, electrifying, emotional conclusion in Wicked: For Good.
Directed once again by award-winning director Jon M. Chu and starring the spectacular returning cast, led by Academy Award® nominated superstars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the final chapter of the untold story of the witches of Oz begins with Elphaba and Glinda estranged and living with the consequences of their choices.
Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), now demonized as The Wicked Witch of the West, lives in exile, hidden within the Ozian forest while continuing her fight for the freedom of Oz’s silenced Animals and desperately trying to expose the truth she knows about The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).
Glinda, meanwhile, has become the glamorous symbol of Goodness for all of Oz, living at the palace in Emerald City and reveling in the perks of fame and popularity. Under the instruction of Madame Morrible (Oscar® winner Michelle Yeoh), Glinda is deployed to serve as an effervescent comfort to Oz, reassuring the masses that all is well under the rule of The Wizard.
As Glinda’s stardom expands and she prepares to marry Prince Fiyero (Olivier award winner and Emmy and SAG nominee Jonathan Bailey) in a spectacular Ozian wedding, she is haunted by her separation from Elphaba. She attempts to broker a conciliation between Elphaba and The Wizard, but those efforts will fail, driving Elphaba and Glinda only further apart. The aftershocks will transform Boq (Tony nominee Ethan Slater) and Fiyero forever, and threaten the safety of Elphaba’s sister, Nessarose (Marissa Bode), when a girl from Kansas comes crashing into all their lives.
As an angry mob rises against the Wicked Witch, Glinda and Elphaba will need to come together one final time. With their singular friendship now the fulcrum of their futures, they will need to truly see each other, with honesty and empathy, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.
Wicked: For Good is based on the generation-defining musical stage play with music and lyrics by legendary Grammy and Oscar® winning composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz and book by Winnie Holzman, from the bestselling novel by Gregory Maguire. The screenplay is by Winnie Holzman and Winnie Holzman & Dana Fox. The film score is by John Powell & Stephen Schwartz, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz.
