PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie (U)

The PAW Patrol crash land on an uncharted tropical island filled with dinosaurs after their ship gets caught in a mysterious storm. They meet Rex, a pup who has been stranded for years and has become an expert in all things dino-related. When the Patrol’s archrival, Mayor Humdinger, begins recklessly mining to exploit the island's natural resources, he inadvertently causes a huge, dormant volcano to erupt. The pups are thrown into a series of high-stakes, dino-sized rescues bigger than anything they’ve done before, as they must stop Humdinger before everything on the island goes extinct. After their ship gets caught in a mysterious storm, the PAW Patrol pups crash land on an uncharted tropical island filled with dinosaurs. The Shawshank Redemption (15)

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Showing as part of Reflections: A Roger Deakins retrospective - a series of films celebrating the cinematography of Dartmouth’s Academy Award Winner.

Internationally acclaimed actors Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman star in a compelling drama of hope, friendship and atonement behind the walls of a maximum-security prison in The Shawshank Redemption.

From a novella by best-selling author Stephen King comes a poignant tale of the human spirit. Red (Freeman), serving a life sentence, and Andy Dufresne (Robbins), a mild-mannered banker wrongly convicted of murder, forge an unlikely bond that will span more than twenty years. Together they discover hope as the ultimate means of survival. Under horrifying conditions and the ever-present threat of violence, two lifers reclaim their souls and find freedom within their hearts in The Shawshank Redemption.

This classic screening is presented as part of Dartmouth Book Festival 2026 – at which Sir Roger will be talking about his new book: Reflections.

The Summer Book (PG)

Nine-year-old Sophia (Emily Matthews) spends the summers at her family’s seasonal home on a tranquil isle in the Gulf of Finland, but this will be the first summer without her mother. Her father (Anders Danielsen Lie) remains numbed by grief, while her grandmother (Glenn Close) guides her on a giddy, winding path towards young adulthood. With a sense of infinite possibility and a tender regard for the wonders of the natural world, Sophia and her grandmother explore the terrain, celebrate midsommar, and test the limits of faith in the face of life’s many storms. Adapted from Tove Jansson’s beloved novel, The Summer Book is a delicate account of growing up and growing old, beautifully filmed on 16mm in majestic natural light.

“It’s rare to come across a film so peaceful and sublime, never grating or meandering, so deeply in love with the magnificence of life on this planet.”   Alex Billington, FirstShowing.net
