Friday@TheFlavel Memories of working at Philip & Son

Tickets £15 (to include a complimentary glass of wine A talk and documentary film that records the memories of some of those who worked for Philip & Son over the last century.  Based at Nos and Sandquay shipyards on the River Dart, Philips & Son were world famous for producing some of the finest boats and ships in Britain.  Some still in service today.  After WW1, Philip & Son developed a reputation for producing high quality, powerful, seagoing tugs, and cornered the market for Lightships for Trinity House. During WW2 600 workers across both Nos and Sandquay produced over 200 ships and boats for the MOD, playing a critical role in production of ships like Harbour Boom Vessels for Coastal Forces.  Models of some of the ships made at Philips & Son will be displayed.
