Big Landscapes
Colour, Mark & Scale
Explore the drama, colour and scale of the landscape in this five-week painting course.
Over the first three sessions, we will experiment with different ways of approaching landscape through composition, expressive mark-making, texture, colour and atmosphere. These exploratory sessions will help you develop ideas and discover a way of working that feels individual to you.
In the final two weeks, you will bring these ideas together to create a larger landscape painting on canvas, with guidance on building up layers, simplifying forms, creating depth and knowing when a painting is finished.
The course is suitable for a range of abilities, whether you are relatively new to painting or would like to loosen up and develop a more expressive approach to landscape.
Materials
Please bring:
• A selection of landscape images or photographs that inspire you
• A2 sketchbook or cartridge paper
• Pencils and/or charcoal
• Acrylic paints
• A selection of brushes, including at least one larger brush
• A palette or something suitable for mixing paint
• Water pot and cloth/rag
• Apron or old shirt
During the course we may also experiment with materials such as oil pastels, ink and simple mark-making tools. Further guidance will be given during the first sessions.
For the final two weeks, you will need a stretched canvas or canvas board. Recommended size and options will be discussed during the course so that you do not need to purchase this in advance.

Cally Beaton: Namaste Motherf*ckers
*Now a Sunday Times best seller*
Namaste Motherf*ckers is the new show from Cally Beaton (QI, Live at the Apollo) - a quick-witted, unexpected and unapologetic insight into life in midlife. Combining Cally’s comedic and storytelling prowess with extracts from her provocative, stereotype-busting book of the same name, the show has at its heart her own story of radical reinvention – taking her from meetings in boardrooms to treading the boards, thanks to a chance conversation with the late, great Joan Rivers.
A funny show about a deadly serious subject, Namaste Motherf*ckers is a celebration of and for the female of the species. Invisible no more. The show celebrated an Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2025 sell-out, and it will include a Q&A and meet-and-greet with Cally (who knows, Jeff the wonder dog may even be there too).
'Sprightly wit and considerable storytelling prowess', 4**** The Scotsman
'Original and clever', 4**** The Arts Desk – pick of the Edinburgh Fringe
'Gripping, perceptive and uplifting', Chortle
'Exciting and hilarious talent…she’s got it', Time Out

A multi-media History Experience exploring the remarkable story of Philip & Son and the Noss and Sandquay shipyards on the River Dart.
The evening will open with an illustrated talk giving an overview of the yard’s history and some of its greatest achievements. Philip & Son became renowned for building powerful seagoing tugs, established an extraordinary reputation for the construction of lightships for Trinity House, and during the Second World War employed around 600 people across Noss and Sandquay, producing more than 200 ships and boats for the war effort.
We will then screen a documentary film recording the memories of men and women who worked for Philip & Son during the later decades of the twentieth century, followed by the chance to hear first-hand from former employees of the yard who will share some of their own experiences.
Finally, Premier Marinas will present the story of the new Noss on Dart development and show how the history and heritage of this important shipbuilding site have been incorporated into its future.
Models of some of the ships built by Philip & Son will also be on display.
Please note: with the additional film, live contributions and presentation, this History Experience will run for approximately 1 hour 15 minutes rather than the usual one hour, finishing at around 6.45pm.

Crown) as Roald Dahl, comes to the big screen. Winner of 3 Olivier Awards® including Best Play and a Tony Award® for Best Actor in a Play (John Lithgow), the production was filmed live in London’s West End ahead of its sold-out Broadway run. A world-famous children’s author under threat. A battle of wills in the wake of scandal. And one
chance to make amends...It’s the summer of 1983, The Witches is about to hit the shelves and Roald Dahl is making last-minute edits. But the outcry at his recent, explicitly antisemitic article won’t die down. Across a single afternoon at his family home, and rocked by an unexpectedly explosive confrontation, Dahl is forced to choose: make a public apology or risk his name and reputation.
Inspired by real events, GIANT explores with dark humour the difference between considered
opinion and dangerous rhetoric offering a complicated portrait of a fiendishly charismatic icon

The Royal Ballet presents MANON [Revival]
Synopsis:
In the seedy underbelly of 18th-century Paris, money is king. Nothing is sacred – even love itself can be bought for the right price. A native of this hedonistic underworld, Manon is caught between twin desires when she falls in love with the student Des Grieux. Steadfast and devoted, he offers the possibility of an honourable life. Yet, the riches promised by the world of Parisian society remain tempting...
Manon’s inner turmoil and struggle for survival lie at the devastating heart of Kenneth MacMillan’s 1974 adaptation of Abbé Prévost’s novel. In this signature work of The Royal Ballet, MacMillan’s nuanced understanding of human psychology makes for an unflinching look into the moral degradation of Manon’s Paris, while all its decadence and decay are brought to life through Jules Massenet’s score and Nicholas Georgiadis’s designs.
Creatives:
Choreography KENNETH MACMILLAN
Music JULES MASSENET
Orchestration MARTIN YATES
Conductor KOEN KESSELS
Designer NICHOLAS GEORGIADIS

Lunatics and Fools
Madness is a recurring theme in Shakespeare's plays. There are characters who go mad, characters who pretend to go mad, and characters who try to send others mad. Not to mention Shakespeare's fools, who may seem bonkers but often speak more sense than anyone else.
Modern attitudes to mental health, madness and insanity are very different from those of the 16th century, but Shakespeare's depictions of people in mental torment is often strikingly recognisable.
The Inn Theatre Company has put together a mad, crazy evening of scenes from Shakespeare's plays on the theme of insanity, Lunatics and Fools. There will be characters you know well, such as Ophelia, Feste and King Lear, alongside some you might not be expecting. So please come and join us. You'll be surprised, informed, amused, shocked and, above all, entertained.
The Inn Theatre Company draws performers from across south Devon for their productions, which include a week of open-air performances in the idyllic setting of Dartmouth Castle every summer.
The success of their recent shows, Heroes, Villains & Lovers and Dreams, Charms & Phantoms, has inspired them to put together this new and intriguing collection of scenes from Shakespeare.
