2024 marks the 80th anniversary of D Day and, following the extracts shown at the Exercise Tiger weekend, we are offering another chance to watch Ian Phillip’s compelling film ‘Evacuation’ in full.
It tells the story of the around 3000 residents of Slapton & the surrounding villages who had to evacuate their homes for the American troops involved in Exercise Tiger, the ill-fated Allied rehearsal for the D-Day landings. The film contains fascinating footage of archive film and interviews with people who were children at the time. They had to evacuate their homes with six weeks’ notice, leaving before Christmas and taking all their possessions and livestock with them
A complimentary glass of wine will be served after the screening with the opportunity to speak to others about the film and its significance.
Friday 22 November, 5.30pm
Tickets £14 (to include a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink after the screening)
