The Flavel is Dartmouth’s vibrant arts centre, bringing film, live performances, exhibitions, and community events to the heart of our town. We are looking for a dynamic Head of Programming and Operations to lead our organisation into its next phase of growth and sustainability.


This is a unique opportunity for a visionary leader with a passion for the arts, strong business acumen, and the ability to develop innovative programming that balances artistic excellence, community engagement, and commercial success. We want to hear from you if you have a proven track record in arts administration, venue management, or cultural programming.


About the Role


As Head of Programming and Operations, you will:


✅ Lead the strategic and operational management of The Flavel, ensuring its financial stability and long-term sustainability.


✅ Curate a diverse programme of live performances, cinema screenings, and community-led events, ensuring a vibrant mix of artistic, cultural, and commercial activities.


✅ Oversee business development, identifying new revenue streams, funding opportunities, and partnerships to support The Flavel’s growth.


✅ Lead marketing and audience engagement, ensuring a strong digital presence, effective event promotion, and outreach to new and diverse audiences.


✅ Supervise staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and customer-focused culture.


✅ With Trustees to ensure financial and operational excellence, managing budgets, infrastructure, and legal compliance.


What We’re Looking For


✔ A passion for the arts and community engagement.


✔ Leadership experience in arts administration, venue management, or event coordination.


✔  Commercial awareness, with experience in fundraising, sponsorships, and business development.


✔ Exceptional programming skills, with an ability to curate events that appeal to diverse audiences.


✔ Marketing expertise, including digital and social media strategy.


✔ Financial and operational management experience, with a solid budgeting and cost control understanding.
