Join Us as Trustee: HR & Safeguarding Lead – Help Shape The Flavel’s Future

The Flavel is on the move! Now one year into an ambitious programme of change, we are looking for an experienced HR professional with a passion for people to join our Board of Trustees.

As our HR & Safeguarding Lead Trustee, you will:

- Advise the Board and Management Team on best-practice HR and safeguarding strategy

- Offer guidance to our Head of Programming and Operations when needed

- Ensure our policies and processes are compliant, effective and aligned with UK employment legislation, including vetting, recruitment and development, and actively promote equality, diversity and inclusion

- Lead on embedding a culture of safeguarding across the organisation, ensuring appropriate measures are in place to protect staff, volunteers and all who engage with The Flavel

- Champion a positive, supportive and safe environment for our team of 6 staff and 40 dedicated volunteers, where all people feel valued and respected regardless of background or identity.


We’re looking for someone with:

- Proven expertise in HR and people management

- Recent hands-on experience in workforce development, culture building or organisational change

- An understanding of safeguarding frameworks (training or governance-level experience desirable)

- A collaborative mindset and commitment to empowering others

Join Us as Trustee: Compliance Lead – Help Shape The Flavel’s Future

The Flavel is on the move! Now one year into an ambitious programme of change, we are looking for a Trustee with expertise in compliance and governance to support our continued growth and ensure we operate with integrity and confidence.

As our Compliance Lead Trustee, you will:

- Advise Trustees and management on practical and effective ways to build and maintain a culture of compliance within a mixed employee and volunteering environment

- Ensure our policies, processes and risk management frameworks meet legal and regulatory standards

- Bring special sensitivity and understanding to the realities of working with a small team, where community spirit and goodwill are central to how we operate

- Support management in embedding proportionate, user-friendly approaches to compliance across our staff and 40+ volunteers


We’re looking for someone with:

- Experience in compliance, governance, risk management or regulatory frameworks

- A pragmatic mindset — able to balance best practice with operational realities

- Excellent communication and influencing skills, especially when guiding others through change.

The Flavel is on the move! Now one year into an ambitious programme of change, we are looking for a Trustee with a passion for community engagement to help deepen our connections across Dartmouth and the wider area.


As our Community Development & Social Inclusion Lead Trustee, you will:

- Champion our commitment to ensuring The Flavel is a place where every member of the local community feels welcomed and at home

- Build and strengthen relationships with local community groups, schools, colleges and other educational and cultural organisations

- Help us reach new audiences — ensuring our activities, events and spaces are accessible and relevant to people of all ages, backgrounds and identities

- Work with management to shape programmes and partnerships that reflect the diversity, needs and aspirations of the community we serve


We’re looking for someone who:

- Has experience in community development, education, outreach or partnership-building

- Is an excellent communicator and connector, comfortable liaising with a wide range of stakeholders

- Brings creativity, empathy and a genuine enthusiasm for strengthening local impact
