Join Us as Trustee: Compliance Lead – Help Shape The Flavel’s Future

The Flavel is on the move! Now one year into an ambitious programme of change, we are looking for a Trustee with expertise in compliance and governance to support our continued growth and ensure we operate with integrity and confidence.

As our Compliance Lead Trustee, you will:

- Advise Trustees and management on practical and effective ways to build and maintain a culture of compliance within a mixed employee and volunteering environment

- Ensure our policies, processes and risk management frameworks meet legal and regulatory standards

- Bring special sensitivity and understanding to the realities of working with a small team, where community spirit and goodwill are central to how we operate

- Support management in embedding proportionate, user-friendly approaches to compliance across our staff and 40+ volunteers

We’re looking for someone with:

- Experience in compliance, governance, risk management or regulatory frameworks

- A pragmatic mindset — able to balance best practice with operational realities

- Excellent communication and influencing skills, especially when guiding others through change.

At The Flavel, we are committed to building a leadership team that reflects the diversity of our community. We believe that different perspectives make us stronger, and we actively welcome applicants from all backgrounds.

Applicants should be based in the South Hams & Torbay area, within reach of Dartmouth for regular meetings.

If you'd like to play a key role in shaping the future of a vibrant local arts and community hub, please get in touch for an informal conversation with Chair, Ian Downing iand@theflavel.org.uk.
