BOOK FESTIVAL

SAVE THE DATE!

The Flavel is embarking on a brand-new venture: a Book Festival on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September 2024, in partnership with Browser Books, The Community Bookshop and Dartmouth Library.

Dartmouth has become known, not only as a sailing and tourist destination, but also as a town that holds very successful and enjoyable festivals: the Music Festival, the Food Festival and Dartmouth Royal Regatta. So, we thought a Book Festival would to be a wonderful addition to the busy calendar of events in the town. We have a large number of authors living in the area, and this will be a superb way to showcase their work, and of course, to welcome authors from further afield.

This is an exciting new venture for The Flavel Centre, in partnership with Browser Books, Dartmouth Community Bookshop and Dartmouth Library, and one which we hope will evolve into an annual event.

For the Book Festival, we are planning a range of events, such as speaker sessions, panel discussions, workshops, film, and children’s events. These events will take place in different areas of The Flavel Centre, Dartmouth Library, Browser Books and Dartmouth Community Bookshop, which are all within a concentrated area.

The Flavel Centre’s new patron is John Suchet, the renowned broadcaster, journalist and author, and we are delighted that he is supporting the Book Festival, and will be participating in the event.

We are also delighted that Jo Loosemore, a prolific BBC producer and presenter, will be participating.

We are currently working on the programme, and several authors have expressed an interest across a variety of genres. We will be sending out more detailed information as soon as we are able and look forward to seeing you there.
