Jazz Night with Martin Dale and Mark Nightingale

The now legendary Martin Dale Jazz Night once again starts the Flavel’s Dart Music Festival program. Martin Dale is an acclaimed saxophonist who has worked with such acts as Petula Clarke, Neil Sedaka, Tom Jones and even X Factor winner Alexandra Burke. This year his special guest is Mark Nightingale who brings a wealth of experience having played with Sting on ‘Ten Summoner’s Tales’, toured with James Morrison, and backed such jazz luminaries as John Dankworth and Cleo Laine.

Jess Heywood Pupils

This concert is performed by local young musicians, all taught by Jessica and a ‘must see’ if you love to support young talented people, the professionals of tomorrow. She is a well-known figure in and around Dartmouth and is involved in all aspects of music. Her enthusiasm for cello playing, singing and teaching has touched many from the very young to adults.

Since leaving Steeleye Span in 2013, legendary fiddle player Peter Knight has devoted his time to his innovative trio, establishing them as one of the top tier acts on the British folk/roots scene. Taking traditional music as a starting point, the trio effortlessly introduce French, Cajun, Cuban and Eastern European influences to produce a sound at once familiar but brilliantly innovative. Joined by Roger Flack on guitar and Sacha Trochet on percussion.

Annette Gregory

Although Annette began singing at the age of 4 to the ska and country that was regularly played in her house, she believes she only found her true voice on hearing Ella Fitzgerald for the first time. Since then she has wowed critics and public alike with her Ladies of Jazz show. Works by Sarah Vaughan, Julie London, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and of course Ella are given due reverence by the depth and beauty of Annette's voice.
